Doing the Dip has opened up a whole new career for me

After completing the Dip TESOL in 2006, I returned to my job as Pedagogical Advisor for English and languages such as Chinese & Turkish in a large private language school here in Basel, Switzerland.
I enjoyed putting into practice everything I had learned whilst doing the Dip, in particular, I was much more confident when running teacher training workshops for the teachers I was responsible for.
In my free-time I became National Events Chair for ETAS (English Teachers Association of Switzerland), my main duty was to organise the annual conference for around 450 teachers, which gave me a whole new skill set!
Late 2007, my position at the school, where I was working, became somewhat unstable, due to restructuring, so I applied for the position of Area Sales & Marketing manager (Switzerland) for a well-known ELT publisher. Due to my extensive ELT and local market knowledge, I was offered the position, which I took up in March 2008. My time is spent visiting schools, speaking to teachers about course materials, organising and running teacher training events, and creating promotion campaigns for our extensive list of ELT publishing. Doing the Dip has opened up a whole new career for me, and I would heartily recommend it to any EFL teacher who is looking for a new challenge.
