Combining study with busy work schedule

My name is Michael Frost and I completed my Dip. TESOL with Oxford TEFL earlier this year. I am writing this email to provide a case study in how it is possible to combine studying for the Dip. TESOL with having a busy working schedule.

I live and work in China and about a month into my Diploma course I was promoted to a Director of Studies position in a Kids and Teens school. I had previously been teaching Business English, so as you can imagine it was quite a big transition to make. There was a lot to learn in my new job, things like phonics instruction and early childhood development stages that I hadn’t needed to know about before. On top of that, I was having to learn how to manage staff and deal with day-to-day issues. I was regularly working 50-60 hour weeks.

Despite all these time pressures, I was still able to keep up with the weekly topics, hand in essays on time and complete the three pieces of coursework within the time limit, achieving solid passes for each. With most of the modules you will find that you are refining and extending your grasp of issues that are already familiar to some extent.

I would wholeheartedly recommend the Oxford TEFL program. It is comprehensive, the reading and assignments are very useful and you will have a chance to discuss issues with some of the leading lights in the ESL field on the moodle system.
