How does the 13-week part-time 100% Online CELTA course work?

Whether you are working full time, have a family at home or just have other commitments, this more flexible study option could be for you. The course is delivered via the Cambridge learning platform and you will work through the content week-by-week. Input sessions during the week are flexible and you will be able to access the content when you have time. You will attend live lessons and dynamic online workshops throughout the course with our expert team of tutors and peers. You will be required to attend all the live input sessions or watch the recording if you are unable to attend on the day. You will need to dedicate around 5–10 hours of online study via our learning platform, plus 6 hours on Saturdays for your teaching practice, plus any additional home study. This will be around 15–20 hours per week in total depending on how much home study you do.

What will the online Teaching Practice be like?

At the start of the course, you will be divided into small teaching practice groups and assigned an experienced tutor to guide you during your teaching practice. You will teach 6 hours in total to groups of between 6 and 12 students on average. You will receive one-to-one support planning your classes and your tutor will observe you and give you feedback on the classes you teach. You will also have the opportunity to observe your peers and give them feedback on their classes. All classes will be delivered via our online platform, Zoom, and you will teach a minimum of two levels. We also provide one dedicated input session on teaching in “real” classrooms and three video observations of these types of classes as part of your training.

Take a look at an example input session in the video below
