Accommodation in Barcelona

We aim to provide you with comfortable, low-cost accommodation, accessible to the school and with friendly hosts who will make you feel at home. Our accommodation finding service is free of charge.

Who will I stay with?
Janet, our accommodation officer, will allocate you a room in a shared flat. Your flat-mates will be English teachers or local Spanish people who have a spare room to rent. You will have the chance then to either practice your Spanish or get first-hand advice on English teaching! You can express a preference for which type of host you prefer.

Where is the accommodation?
Some of our accommodation is within walking distance of the school and for some you will need to get a metro or bus. Transport is cheap and efficient in Barcelona and your maximum journey time will be about 30 minutes. Barcelona has a modern, efficient underground system, with 5 lines, which allows you easy access to Barcelona´s most famous areas. Bus network runs from 5am to 11pm and also offers a lower frecuency night service.

The school and most of our accommodation are situated in the Eixample, a prime location near the key Gaudí Modernist buildings and the city's best shopping, bars and restaurants.

How much does it cost?
The room will cost you between 380-400 € for the four weeks. The exact rent will depend on the size of the room, location and the facilities of the flat in general. You will pay the rent directly to your host on arrival.

What is the accommodation like?
The majority of accommodation is in apartments. Some apartments can be quite old-fashioned with the original kitchens and bathrooms and not all of them have a lift. Spanish cities can be noisy, and during hot weather windows are frequently left open. Some rooms may be quite small.

We can guarantee that you will be provided with an adequate room with bedding, a desk and a quiet place to work and study. You will have access to the kitchen and cooking facilities. The price quoted for the four weeks is paid directly to your host and is inclusive of bills. It does not include use of the telephone, as this is at the discretion of your host. The accommodation covers from the Sunday before the course starts to the Saturday when it finishes. You may stay extra days before or after the course, depending on your host. These extra days should be paid for pro-rata.

How do I book accommodation?
You will be given an accommodation application form once you have been accepted on the course. We will do our best to take account of your preferences indicated on the form, but no guarantees can be made, as it's dependent on availability at the time of your course. We regularly monitor the standard of the accommodation provided and you will be given the opportunity to comment on this at the end of the course.

If you wish to see a picture of the building your accommodation is in, visit http://fotos.qdq.com In the box nombre de calle enter the street name and in número put the street number. You will find pictures of the building and adjacent area using the arrows and detailed maps. The site works for any address in Barcelona, so you can follow the same procedure to have a look at the building the school is in (In the box nombre de calle enter Girona and in número put 83.)

I'm happy with my accommodation because it is near a metro stop and only 20 minuts walk in to here. As I spend more time here than there I can't really give an in-depth analysis. -Jon Devlin
