Apply for CertTESOL course Testimonials Very structured and organised. Tutors very knowledgeable and helpful. Rich Lucey (UK, / March 2008 - Barcelona). I feel very confident in the classroom after taking this course. Having never taught before, I am amazed with how much was covered in just one month. I enjoyed working with my peers on the course and the tutors as well. I am really glad I gave this course a shot because I feel that teaching English really suits my personality. Andrea Packard (USA, / February 2008 - Barcelona). Tutors are great, they are really helpful, supportive and encouraging. The classes are really fun - the students are too! I have met people from all over the world, all walks of life, and have really enjoyed making such good friends. The work load associated with teaching the amount I have is a lot, however, I feel completely confident and ready to walk into a classroom and teach!. Emily Evans (January 2008 - Barcelona). The course was a lot of work but has absolutely paid off. The projects helped raise awareness about the teaching and learning processes, as well as about how languages work. We were able to receive invaluable feedback from our tutors and then lesson by lesson put everything we had learnt into practice. I enjoyed the course and have learnt a lot. I hope to come back and do the extension courses. Katarina Vukelic (Croatia, 27 y.o./ November 2007 - Barcelona). I really enjoyed my four weeks at Oxford House. I found the input sessions useful in giving me a background in language awareness. I've built up a lot of teaching practice which has been confidence building. The support I got from the tutors was great, all the tutors are very approachable. Oxford House has good resources, friendly newly qualified teachers hanging round at different times of the day. I felt very comfortable, and also felt the underlying professionalism and organisation in the well structured course. I will recommend Oxford House to anyone thinking of doing their TESOL certificate. Darren Campbell (UK, 27 y.o./ November 2007 - Barcelona). OxfordTEFL is an extremely intensive course that provides future English Language Teachers the experience and skills they need to succeed in the future. All of the staff at Oxford House are always willing to give ideas to the trainees about teaching and they provide a logical flow of information throughout the course. I have met people on this course that I know will be my friends for a very long time and Oxford House provides a lifelong career contact to all trainees. Elizabeth Bridges (July 2007 - Barcelona) On the whole I think the course was really thorough. All bases were covered regarding our own teaching skills. Tutors always on hand with helpful advice / ideas and constructive criticism. I think the extra classes provided us with a good knowledge of any additional grammar points we may be required to touch on in future classes. I also found these useful in my interviews, as I felt confident speaking about grammar and EFL generally. Kate (Careers) is always available for a quick chat and to help. Danielle Fraylich (June 2007 - Barcelona) The course has been a really useful start to my teaching career. We have had lots of support and encouragement from the training staff throughout. There was a good amount of teaching practice. You start teaching on day 3 which although was scary it was the best way. The written assignments were a lot of work and really long but were useful especially to practice grammar and phonological analysis. The beedback sessions were useful and the careers advice and help has been amazing. Couldnīt have hoped for more from the staff. Sophie Barrett (May 2007 - Barcelona) I have enjoyed the course a lot. I have found all the tutors very helpful, friendly and very supportive. I have learned a lot, and I am aware of how much I have still to learn! Only have praise for how the college is run and how lovely every one is, it has been a fun month and I am very pleased to have done it all. I would encourage everyone to OxfordTEFL to study - It was the friendliness that attracted me here in the first place and I am glad I was right in this decision. Cameron Smith (May 2007 - Barcelona) The course is extremely intensive but if you work hard it is a very rewarding experience. When I started I never thought I would feel confident enough to teach a class of students but we are now at the end of the 4 weeks and I feel confident to go out and teach English to all levels of students. All the tutors are helpful and full of ideas to help you with planning and teaching exciting and motivating lessons. I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience here and look forward to returning to study a Diploma! Carly Esplin (UK, 28 / January 2007 - Barcelona) So far, I have been very happy with my experiences at the Oxford/TEFL school. I feel the school has offered me a variety of learning and teaching experiences from offering classes on your learners, teenagers, business English, to classes in different teaching techniques on grammar, realia, videos, group and pair work and picture demonstrations, etc.. I loved the students in my class and the tutors as well. Also my accommodation s were just exactly what I was looking for in a student living situation. It was a great experience for me as an American to be able to take classes in an ESL school in Spain. I will tell all of my friends about it when I return to the states. Kerry Mooney (USA, 45/ January 2007 - Barcelona) When they say the course is intense, they really mean it! Iīve never learnt so much in one month in all my life. My advice is when you feel totally overwhelmed at any stage in the course and want to give up - Donīt!! The course is fantastic value for money and the tutors are wonderful. I really do feel I am prepared to launch myself into the English teaching world and have oxfordTEFL to thank for that! Zara Wooley (Australia, 25 / November 2006 - Barcelona) Teaching was entirely new to me, and I had not studied grammar for many years. The course ensured I was brought fully up to speed in a short time. I found the support and professionalism of the tutors first class. Criticism was constructive and helpful and targeted at improving competency in a step by step way. The classes were very realistic. If anyone is thinking of a careers in teaching English as a Foreign Language then this course is essential and well worthwhile. Ian Winter ( / November 2006 - Barcelona) I'd recommend this course to anyone ever interested in teaching and living in another country. I've learned so much! I feel prepared to go teach my own classes now, and I'm comforted to know that Oxford is there to help me through the years. I've made some great friends here who I'm thankful for, since I'm planning to stay in Barcelona for a while. Thanks to the Oxford team! Lydia Prodanovic (USA, 26 / September 2006 - Barcelona) You weren't joking when you said it was intensive! But the course was very well structured, and it was impossible not to become very aware of teaching, of other teachers and aware of your own strengths and weaknesses and being trained to empathise with your students. The teachers are all very friendly and certainly very capable, so I felt supported all the way through the course. I feel absolutely confident that I have had a very firm grounding in teaching. Crystal Whitaker (UK, 23 / September 2006 - Barcelona) A challenging course but overall very enjoyable and rewarding. I found all the staff to be extremely helpful and friendly. The structure of the course works well with a natural progression throughout. The teaching practice was initially very guided, gradually leading us to be more independent. Laurie Nelson (UK, 26 / August 2006 - Barcelona) I found the course very interesting and useful. I would definitely recommend the course to friends and potential customers. I especially found the feedback sessions to be helpful and opened my eyes to new ways of doing things. Thank you to all the staff and my fellow peers who made the whole experience much more enjoyable than I could have imagined. Stephen Tayleur (UK-Australian, 29 / August 2006 - Barcelona) I think the course was structured very well! I don't think I've ever learned so much in one month's time! I loved that we started teaching immediately and then were students ourselves for the rest of the day. All the tutors that I had contact with (Jane, Ian, Anna and Vanessa - and for one lesson Duncan) were so helpful and really seemed interested in helping us become better teachers. Celia Lopez (USA, 25 / June 2006 - Barcelona) The course was hugely enjoyable and both interesting and educational. I was really impressed with the standard of organisation on the course and the amount of support we were given. I really enjoyed the diversity of the different input sessions and especially the challenging but rewarding unknown language lessons. The chance to teach from an early stage was fantastic and I enjoyed teaching from the start. Anna, Vanessa and Jane were excellent! Ben Brown (UK, 23 / June 2006 - Barcelona) I really enjoyed this course and found it very exciting. The team are excellent, always helpful and smiling. Very rapid and intense but with the helpful team to help you out, no problem getting through the course. I enjoyed also the variety of teachers which give you a vast sample of knowledge from them. Great tutors, full of encouragement, full of confidence, always smiling! Nik Poulton(UK, 47 / Abril 2006 - Barcelona) I thought the course was enjoyable.
The input sessions were for the most part useful. I enjoyed the course and I am very happy I went through it. The course was certainly a good amount of practical experience with the Teaching Practice sessions an effective and efficient way of diving in to the practice of teaching in a controlled, friendly and safe environment. Best intensive/integrative teacher training I have ever been exposed to. Not only did we get the practice to teach, experiment, fall and get back up, reflect critically on teaching and learning and learn how to tutor a student one-on-one, but we also were taught with dynamic, engaging, helpful lessons. I feel inspired and equipped to teach, and supported for my long-term goals, rather than criticized, defeated and overwhelmed like my last teaching experience. Plus, it was so fun and the assignments were real for future application. My colleagues were very supportive and kind . Great work environment.
I loved the course, I loved the people, I loved the teachers. Donīt want it to end! I think the course was very good for me because it helped me to enhance my confidence. All the tutors were very helpful and always there for me. At the start it was a little confusing to receive so much information in such a small period of time but the tutors in the course where fantastic! Thank you so much for helping me to get through this month, I appreciate the encouragement very much. It is sad to say good-bye!
I really enjoyed the unkonwn language part of the course. It was a true experience to know how the students feel in a language class where they donīt know anything about the language. I also found the larner profile quite useful in that now I have an idea how to evaluate a student for their strengths and weaknesses. The teaching practise was a great way to get right in there and get your feet wet. It really made me comfortable very quickly up in front of the class. Overall, a great course and definitely worthwhile doing before just jumping into teaching. It really gives you some good ideas and a base to work from. I have been in the military for 26 years and have attended many courses throughout my careers. None have been as comprehensive as the Oxford Trinity TESOL. In reflexion, now I feel confident that the advice, techniques and background to teaching given to me on this course will able me in my future teaching career. I would have no doubt of recommending this course to anyone who wants to become a teacher.
The course was hard but ultimately quite challenging and enjoyable. It really is quite intensive and you have to be prepared to put in a lot of time and effort.
The teaching part of the course is quite daunting at the beginning, but gets better after
your final lesson is out of the way. After which the teaching can be frustrating or very rewarding.
I would definitely recommend it for people looking to do a tefl course in Prague. Tutors are great and support staff is friendly and approachable.
OxfordTEFL has been a blast. No, seriously, I enjoyed being here very much, and I feel like I learned more than I ever expected to, which is saying something. My tutors had just an enormous amount of helpful and constructive input and feedback on my teaching practice and were very instrumental in giving me confidence in myself to do what I had to do. Great! The input sessions were very enlightening as well.
I have found the course to be really well run and organised. I have found the tutors to be exceptionally friendly, helpful and professional. The course is not easy but it has been a really worthwhile challenge. Itīs been great, thanks!
This course has been an absolutely wonderful experience for me. I canīt say that Iīve ever worked so hard in my entire career, but for the first time, I honestly felt that it has payed off. Overall, it was a great opportunity and one of the best investments that Iīve ever made. The staff has been very friendly and helpful with everything here in Prague. Iīd highly recommend the course and the school to anyone seriously considering TEFL as a career venture.
The course was outstanding for giving me all the practice and guidance I needed to become a successful English teacher. Input sessions on grammar, vocabulary, phonology and different types of learners enriched the experience and directly informed my approach in the classroom. Without these input sessions I canīt imagine what Iīd do. I thought the large projects (unknown language, learner profile, and materials) were interesting. The teacher support and peer support was also incredible.
The course seemed well planned and executed. The tutors provided excellent models for teaching and were very knowledgeable. The course was very demanding, but the knowledge I gained is invaluable. I had a little fun as well.
The course was generally solid and I have no complaints. The way the material was put forth made sense and the feedback sessions were very helpful in learning what you were doing right and what you were doing wrong. I thoroughly enjoyed this course! I have learned so many things about teaching and myself. Atmosphere was wonderful, teachers were helpful and motivated and I felt at ease with all the students / staff. Thank you for a wonderful, positive experience, I will recommend this course to my friends , what a great opportunity! Thank you!
Thorough but manageable! I spent time preparing for the course by reading up and improving my grammar. The course is very well organised, and the tutors are very supportive.
I was recommended this course by a friend and I shall now pursue the ode of recommending Oxford Tefl - Prague. Great environment, great staff, and great fellow teachers. Really enjoyed the teaching and disappointed I'm not staying in Prague!
I enjoyed the course and feel that the teaching practice was a valuable experience. I learnt a lot about teaching, lesson planning, class management and writing course books. And I met a lot of interesting people.
Very good, thorough and knowledgeable tutors. The course was enjoyable and very well organized. It was intensive but as it was so well organized there wasn't any confusion on when assignments had to be in or what was expected of me. It has given me confidence and practice that I needed for my next step in a tefl career. The school is very well equipped and I think I used every piece of equipment that could possibly be used in a classroom and I just hope that my next school will be just as well equipped.
I thought the course was thorough and I enjoyed it. We got lots of teacher practice and good feedback. The staff were friendly and helpful. They all worked very hard. We had a lot of time together and I think everyone got on well. The staff were there always for anyone who needed them.
I've found the course really helpful, as I now feel confident that I can prepare
lessons for classes of all types and even without a textbook! I've found
all of the tutors really helpful, and the feedback has always been fair
and thorough. In all, the course has given me all the knowledge
and confidence I had hoped to get!
I am so thrilled by my experience with this course! I loved the supportive and constructive environment and helpful feedback from the tutors. I learned more than I expected to and I had a fabulous time doing it!" Great, very intensive course! Very supportive tutors. Fantastic experience I
thought the course was excellent- great value with really helpful
tutors and well-devised format. You couldn't improve it if you'd
tried.
The
only thing I would have liked to know before taking the course is
more about my instructors. The
course was just excellent! I
have been teaching English for about 25 years but this month in Prague
has been an absolutely extraordinary one for me!
have learned so much here I have a feeling I've graduated from one more
university. The tutors are excellent. They are real masters in their profession.
I enjoyed every moment of their lessons and their feedback on my lessons
no matter how good or not very good my lessons were. Their tendency to
find positive moments in traineesī teaching rather than negative is really
helpful. Their advice is constructive, objective and adds to our professional
growth. I also liked
the atmosphere. It is not tense, very friendly and at the same time it
stimulates hard work.
I thought the course was very helpful. Although it was extremely intensive
all of the tutors were calm and helpful during and after feedback. They
never lost patience with any of the students. I could have done without
the forms, but they were helpful in organizing the TP log, so I guess
they were needed. In general the course was excellent. I learned a lot
in the four weeks that I participated in it.
I really enjoyed the course as a whole and thought that the teaching practice
time was effectively disporsed throughout the month. My favourite input
session was on multiple intelligences. I found the activities and discussion
to be very informative and even journalled about it! Some of the electives
at the end were perhaps too short for much to be gathered or learned (
specifically-teaching young learners). Overall though I thought that time
management was excellent considering the duration and focus of the course.
Generally
I have been quite pleased with this course. Oxford Staff were professional
yet personable. The course entails a great deal of work, but also
provides matching levels of support. No one here wants you to fail.
Tutors are balanced in their feedback, weighing constructive criticism
with praise. My decision to attend this course was carefully made
and my expectations were fulfilled. I plan on recommending this
school to my colleagues! I
found this course a fantastic source of information and preparation for
a career in TEFL. I learned so much from the very beginning, especially
as I have never taught in a classroom before, now I feel very confident
and look forward to working in the teaching environment. I found
the support system from both the tutors and my peers excellent and feel
like I can get in touch anytime, or call in when I need advice on looking
for work. I would recommend anyone to do the Trinity course here
in Oxford Tefl, even if they have taught before. The
course was great fun. Can be very hard work but a really good laugh. The
tutors are really good and if you struggle with anything, they will tell
you and they will help. They are always available for help and will also
join us at the pub! The 6 hours observed teaching practise was a real
eye opener. Tutors would give honest feedback without being too harsh.
I really enjoyed the course and made lots of new friends! Thank you!
Was very pleased with the course overall. The input sessions were very
valuable I honestly didnīt think it was possible to learn so much grammar
+ phonology in four weeks. Assignment criteria were clear, and assignments
were worth-while. Teaching practice of course was the most beneficial
piece - and feedback from tutors and fellow trainees was very helpful
in creating my own teaching style. Constant
support from ALL tutors (regardless of whether they are our TP observers
or not). Practical teaching experience with realistic and helpful
feedback from tutors. Relevant input sessions that have taught me
what I need to know to teach (which my English School failed to as a youngster).
I would be happy to be a contact for potential students of the course!
The
course was fantastic. I really enjoyed teaching and am going to
miss our students. The feedback we got was extremely helpful and
I could tell that my teaching was improving during the four weeks. The
school had a great atmosphere and all of the teachers were really supportive.
I met lots of really nice people doing the course and we had a really
fun time. The accommodation
was great. Our flat was well located, well equipped and well suited
to partying (although the landlord might not appreciate that).
Everyone
is in the same boat with the same amount of work and the same desire
to do well and yet you are in Barcelona, this fun, vibrant city
that everyone wants to explore, so I felt there was quite a large,
supportive group mentality which helped a lot!
The
course definitely boosted my confidence and made me feel as though
with everything I've learned I can go off and teach properly in
a way that will be fun, motivational and informative for my students!
Thank
you all for everything. I don't think I've ever learnt so much in
so little time before. I couldn't have asked for more! Students,
trainees and tutors have been brilliant, supportive at all times.
Thanks to the organization of the course I didnīt get lost and boomed
ahead with fellow colleagues, which is impressive, taking into account
all that has to be done. A special thanks to my tutors! I
would love to keep in touch and be one of your TEFL informative contacts,
I'd be delighted to hear from you all. The
course was quite rigorous. Now, at the end, I can say, honestly, I feel
I've learned a great deal about ELT and I am prepared for an ELT career.
Four
weeks of hard work was more enjoyable than I could have expected. I experienced
how important the working environment is in getting better results. The
tutors are all so approachable, supportive and friendly. Good to work
with in the daytime and fun to hang out with in the free time. All
my co-trainees were great as well - always supportive and helpful. I
made a good use of the library - I love your resource books a good source
for more inspiration. Everything was fair. Classes were always made exciting.
Thank
you for giving me this education! I
loved this course and have learned a lot - huge learning curve This
is a great base to have and I feel a lot more prepared for my career in
teaching after having done the course. The tutors have been SUPERB
- so helpful and supportive. Oxford TEFL has given me confidence I did not previously have. I loved the enthusiasm, the personalized attention and the other trainees. The paperwork on the other hand, wasnīt very much fun. Scott Slothower (US, 24 / June 2004 - Barcelona) The
Oxford TEFL course was a great course to introduce me to teaching.
The intensity of the course prepared me for any type of teaching
job. In fact, the 3rd week was too intense, but the course
is short, so it is manageable.
The teaching practice part of our training was definitely the most
useful. It made us aware of the things we needed to work on
and got rid of our (well, at least my) nervous butterflies.
It was a great experience!
Can
you believe it, John is the Academic Manager at a new school in Khartoum!
I am teaching English to all levels in the same school and loving it.
Here in Sudan the students want to learn, they appreciate a native speaker
and the job is a true pleasure. We love our new careers, and it
is all thanks to the energy and enthusiasm we received from the staff
in Prague.
Enjoyed the course, the workload was just right. The
first week was the most stressful, the second week was fine, the
third week was a bit of a lull, the fourth week grand.
I will recommend this course to others, but will tell them that
it's not half as stressful as its built up to be! It was
good fun and even if I dont go on to teach, I have learnt
many other transferable skills that will be useful in the future.
From beginning to end we were guided and informed, challenged and allowed
to find out good, better, best paths" |
