I really enjoyed my four weeks at Oxford House. I found the input sessions useful in giving me a background in language awareness. On the whole I think the course was really thorough. All bases were covered regarding our own teaching skills. Tutors always on hand with helpful advice / ideas and constructive criticism. The course has been a really useful start to my teaching career. We have had lots of support and encouragement from the training staff throughout. There was a good amount of teaching practice. You start teaching on day 3 which although was scary it was the best way. The written assignments were a lot of work and really long but were useful especially to practice grammar and phonological analysis. So far, I have been very happy with my experiences at the Oxford/TEFL school. I feel the school has offered me a variety of learning and teaching experiences from offering classes on your learners, teenagers, business English, to classes in different teaching techniques on grammar, realia, videos, group and pair work and picture demonstrations, etc.. I really enjoyed the unkonwn language part of the course. It was a true experience to know how the students feel in a language class where they don´t know anything about the language. I also found the larner profile quite useful in that now I have an idea how to evaluate a student for their strengths and weaknesses. The teaching practise was a great way to get right in there and get your feet wet. It really made me comfortable very quickly up in front of the class. Overall, a great course and definitely worthwhile doing before just jumping into teaching. It really gives you some good ideas and a base to work from.

The course was hard but ultimately quite challenging and enjoyable. It really is quite intensive and you have to be prepared to put in a lot of time and effort. The teaching part of the course is quite daunting at the beginning, but gets better after your final lesson is out of the way. After which the teaching can be frustrating or very rewarding. I really enjoyed the course as a whole and thought that the teaching practice time was effectively disporsed throughout the month. My favourite input session was on multiple intelligences. I found the activities and discussion to be very informative and even journalled about it! Some of the electives at the end were perhaps too short for much to be gathered or learned ( specifically-teaching young learners). Overall though I thought that time management was excellent considering the duration and focus of the course.

I realized that teaching was a career that I´ve been interested in from High School.  I decided to do TESOL at Oxford Tefl which gave me the opportunity to qualify and teach at the same time.  By doing this I was able to decide quite quickly that teaching was right for me.   Working in Italy now is great.  Teaching itself is very diverse (I teach children from 7 years old to adults).  The Italians (like the Spanish) make brilliant students and I am learning new ways of teaching everyday.... Can you believe it, John is the Academic Manager at a new school in Khartoum! From meeting other teachers and looking at different courses we have realized that the tuition and content of our course in Prague is far superior to the majority on the market.  There is a limit to how much you can learn in a month, and it's true that everyday in this job is part of the learning process.  But that said, the style, enthusiasm and content we were taught at Oxford Tefl has been a solid foundation for our new careers.  We have the opportunity to travel Africa, save some money and do a job we love.  See you for the Diploma!

I enjoyed the course thoroughly. The input sessions were fun and informative (both in terms of material and teaching styles), the teaching practices were challenging, the community of peers and tutors was supportive overall, and the facilities were adequate.
The grammar sessions seemed explicit to me with my background in English, but they may have been more difficult for others.
The phonology sessions were fun and very productive for me, as was the Unknown Language course. The amount of paper was daunting at times but fair warning was given. I did find it helpful when handouts were hole-punched. Also, maybe telling us where to classify an important document (this goes in the phonology section, this in the teaching skills, etc.) would have been helpful, but these are small issues. Loved it overall.

My four weeks at Oxford TEFL in Prague have been a life changing experience for me.
I had only recently sold a business, I did not want to retire and was looking for a new direction in my life. I wanted direction that would give structure to my life while being fun and enjoyable. In four short weeks I feel I have found that direction and I am on the road to becoming a teacher.
I am impressed with the amount of material that was covered in these four weeks, I am more impressed with the amount that I remember. Although some theory was presented (and I enjoy the theory) most of the course was practical information I can use immediately.
