Neil joined Oxford TEFL in January 2011 following a career in further education (Adult ESOL) in his native Scotland. He began teacher-training in 2008, taking a year’s sabbatical to run a course for volunteer tutors in Guatemala and Honduras, before returning to Scotland to work with the Scottish Qualifications Authority on developing a similar course for tutors there. He now lives in Barcelona with his wife and baby daughter and divides his working time between teaching, training on OH’s CertTESOL and DipTESOL courses, writing and presenting on themes such as the lexical approach, metacognitive listening and ideology in ELT, and running SLB, a local cooperative of freelance teachers, writers and translators.
