TBE Teaching Business English 3-day extension course

Either 3 days intensive face to face or 4 weeks part-time on line
For teachers who would like to build their practical skills and knowledge in teaching Business English. The course is suitable for, teachers who have recently completed a Trinity CertTESOL or similar course or are in their first year of teaching Business English.

TYL Teaching Young Learners 3-day extension Course

Either 3 days intensive face to face or 4 weeks part-time on line
For teachers who would like to build their practical skills and knowledge in teaching Young Learners (aged 3-15). The course is suitable for, teachers who have recently completed a Trinity CertTESOL or similar course or are in their first year of teaching Young Learners.

Teaching One to One

3 days intensive face to face
The course provides the specialist training practising teachers need to face the unique challenges of working with the individual learner. The course, led by author Mark Powell, is suitable for teachers with teaching experience, including teaching one to one.

Certificate in Content Language Integrated Learning (CLIL)

Either 3 days intensive face to face or 4 weeks part-time on line
For teachers who are working in primary or secondary schools teaching a school subject in English or EFL teachers who wish to develop their use of content based learning. The course includes practical workshops on lesson planning, materials and methodology for CLIL.


Certificate in Content Language Integrated Learning (CLIL)


This course will suit teachers who:

" Either:

Work in primary and secondary education in Spain and are planning on teaching a core subject (geography, natural sciences etc.) in English

" Or:

Are already teaching their subject in English and want to develop their skills in teaching learners whose first language is not English " Or:

Teach English and are interested in using more content based lessons to motivate their learners.


Or:

Directors of studies who want to start using CLIL in their school.

They should either:

" Be a qualified primary or secondary school teacher

or

" Have a Certificate in TESOL/CELTA and/or Diploma in TESOL/DELTA and at least two years experience in English teaching

Complete the CLIL Application Form

We will then e mail you to let you know if you have been accepted on the course and give you an opportunity to ask any further questions. You will also be able to speak to a member of staff about the course by phone or in person. When you have been accepted on a course you will need to pay the full fee to confirm your place. The deadline for applications is two weeks before the course start date.

Course aims

The aim of this course is for teachers to develop their knowledge and skills in three areas.(see full list of contents below)

1. CLIL methodology

Participants examine aspects of second language acquisition theory relevant to CLIL teaching.

2. CLIL lesson planning/materials creation

Participants look at the factors to be considered in creating CLIL classes, in particular the selection and adaptation of materials, and the incorporation of activities to maximise learner involvement.

3. CLIL teaching techniques

Participants look at how to incorporate EFL (English as a Forign Language) techniques into subject teaching to aid learner understanding of instructions and explanations. Participants will learn about a wide array of teaching ideas and techniques, and get the chance to put them into practice in an end of course project where they plan and deliver a CLIL class incorporating the ideas and techniques covered on the course.

The course also aims to raise participants' awareness of the importance of collaboration across English and subject departments and the use of peer observation as a tool for professional development.

Virtual classromm

There will be on-line support in our "virtual classroom". Participants will be able to access readings, links and materials and take part in on-line discussions with the tutor and colleagues.

Certificates and Assessment

Participants will receive the OxfordTEFL Certificate for CLIL Teachers provided they

" Attend the 20 course hours

" Complete the presentation outlined above. (This project will not be formally assessed or graded)

Course timetable/dates

The course will consist of ten, two hour sessions on either Saturday mornings or Friday lunchtimes/afternoons. Please let us know which times will suit you best.

Course Fees

300 euros per person for open course

For closed courses the fee can be negotiated depending on the number of participants

Fees include all tuition, materials and certificate.
