TYLE

Course Description

Throughout the world, and especially in Spain, teaching younger learners (3-18) has become a key part of TEFL teachers' remit. We often find ourselves teaching more children than adults. At the end of any certificate course, while trainees should feel confident about teaching adults, the same might not be said for teaching younger learners.

The school offers a short introductory course which gives you the skills you need to start teaching younger learners feeling well-prepared, confident and enthusiastic. The course covers key areas of methodology alongside practical applications and will leave you with an extensive range of ideas and activities to use in the classroom. The course has been designed in close collaboration with a large number of employers and is targeted to give you exactly the skills they are looking for and that you need.

The TYLE course takes place over three days and involves four and a half hours per day of workshops, discussions and video observations.

TESOL + Spanish
The Spanish component of the course is provided by a sister school in Cadiz, where a lot of our trainees go to learn Spanish. They have all been very happy with the course, which has a small class size of a maximum of seven students to ensure progress. Classes are available from beginner level upwards with or without accommodation.

Teachers or postmen?
What exactly do we expect to achieve with the materials that we take into the classroom? And how do we set out to do it? Well, perhaps it’s a question of delivery. In this practical talk, we will address two points: firstly, that one route to engaging classroom practice lies in the teacher’s delivery technique and secondly, that mainstream beliefs may prevent such techniques from flourishing.
