The South of Spain has a rich and varied tradition of outstanding food, art and hospitality as well as one of the most desirable climates the Mediterranean has to offer. Here at Oxford TEFL we offer courses in two beautiful locations, Cadiz and Malaga, both perfect for training for an accredited TEFL certificate and both with tutors who are experienced and qualified to Dip TESOL/ Delta level and are ready to support you throughout the course.

Cadiz. Cadiz is a lively, intimate and friendly Spanish city on the beach; often described as “the real Spain”. Our centre is located in the heart of the old town, in Plaza de Mina; a square full of life and a focal point for locals eager to learn English. Cadiz is the oldest city in Western Europe and is steeped in both history and culture.

Malaga. Situated on the southern coast of Spain right on the Mediterranean Sea, Malaga is an excellent city to live and study in. It has a big international airport and the city provides easy access to other cities such as Sevilla, Granada, and Cordoba. The average annual temperature is 23ºC or 73ºF.

How easy is it to find a job?

There is currently a massive demand for English teachers in the South of Spain. Since the economic crisis began we have seen more and more Spaniards taking English classes to improve their employment prospects. There are many opportunities for English teachers through language schools, private schools, summer camps and private classes.  Is it expensive to live in the South of Spain?

  • If you rent a room you can expect to pay between €350 and €450 a month.
  • If you eat at home then expect to spend about €150 a month on food.
  • The rest would depend on what your lifestyle is like.Here’s some useful information about prices:

Cinema — about €7,50

Nightclubs — about €10 entrance fee with drink included

Beer at a normal bar — €1,20

Eating at a restaurant ordering “menu del día” — €8 – €12

Your accommodation is important to making sure that you get the most out of your stay in the South of Spain. For this reason, the accommodation we select is comfortable, low-cost, in easy reach of the school, secure and only where we would be happy to stay ourselves.
