Accommodation in Barcelona

We aim to provide you with comfortable, low-cost accommodation, accessible to the school and with friendly hosts who will make you feel at home. Our accommodation finding service is optional and free of charge.

Who will I stay with?
Janet, our accommodation officer, will allocate you a room in a shared flat. Your flat-mates will be English teachers or local Spanish people who have a spare room to rent. You may have the chance then to either practice your Spanish or get first-hand advice on English teaching! You can express a preference for which type of host you prefer.

Where is the accommodation?
Some of our accommodation is within walking distance of the school and for some you will need to get a metro or bus. Transport is cheap and efficient in Barcelona and your maximum journey time will be about 30 minutes. Barcelona has a modern, efficient underground system, with 5 lines, which allows you easy access to Barcelona's most famous areas. The bus network runs from 5am to 11pm and also offers a lower frequency night service.

The school and most of our accommodation are situated in the Eixample, a prime location near the key Gaudí Modernist buildings and the city's best shopping, bars and restaurants. If you wish to know more about the transport in Barcelona click on this link www.tmb.net

How much does it cost?
The room will cost you between 400-420 € for the four weeks. The exact rent will depend on the size of the room, location and the facilities of the flat in general. You will pay the rent directly to your host on arrival.

What is the accommodation like?
The majority of accommodation is in apartments. Some apartments can be quite old-fashioned with the original kitchens and bathrooms and not all of them have a lift. Spanish cities can be noisy, and during hot weather windows are frequently left open. Some rooms may be quite small.

We can guarantee that you will be provided with an adequate room with bedding, a desk and a quiet place to work and study. You will have access to the kitchen and cooking facilities. The price quoted for the four weeks is paid directly to your host and is inclusive of bills. It does not include use of the telephone, as this is at the discretion of your host. The accommodation covers from the Sunday before the course starts to the Saturday when it finishes. You may stay extra days before or after the course, depending on your host. These extra days should be paid for pro-rata.

How do I book accommodation?
You will be given an accommodation application form once you have been accepted on the course. We will do our best to take into account your preferences indicated on the form, but no guarantees can be made, as it's dependent on availability at the time of your course. We regularly monitor the standard of the accommodation provided and you will be given the opportunity to comment on this at the end of the course.

Accommodation in London

Homestay
When most of our students first arrive in the UK, they choose to stay with one of our specially selected families, where a warm welcome is guaranteed.

In a homestay family you can have your own room or share with a friend. You will have use of all essential facilities including the kitchen and bathroom and you will eat your meals together with the family (You can choose to have breakfast only or breakfast and dinner every day). You will normally stay with the same host family for the duration of your stay. Many students keep in touch with their homestay families once they have returned home and remain friends for many years.

Rooms are cleaned frequently and bed linen changed weekly. While you will be allowed to receive incoming calls, you are advised for your convenience to bring or buy a mobile. If you need a British mobile, they can be bought for approximately £60.00. One load of laundry per week will be done for you. There is no Internet access or laptop plug-in point. Please use the facilities at the School.

All our homestay accommodation is checked by our partner agency’s Accommodation Officer and monitored regularly by our staff to ensure that it is of a good standard and host families are given strict guidelines about the services they provide to ensure all our accommodation is operated to the same standards.

We have homestay accommodation in different parts of London. You can choose to live in central London (zones 1 or 2) where the door-to-door travelling time to school is approximately 30 to 40 minutes or you can stay in outer London (zones 3 or 4) where travelling time is around 60 minutes.
