About Oxford TEFL

Oxford Tefl is among the most highly-regarded teacher training institutions in Europe. Last year more than 400 teachers earned their TESOL certificate in our centres in Barcelona, Cadiz and Prague and around 20 completed their Trinity Diploma in TESOL which we offer in Barcelona. From the Barcelona and Prague centres we also provide language and skills training to the local and international business community as well as offering a range of general English classes in the schools themselves.

Oxford Tefl was founded in 1998 by Duncan Foord and Nick Rawlinson. They had both been teaching and training in Barcelona for a number of years, and setting up the company was the natural step to take. The company´s philosophy has been the same since the first day: to provide high quality training in a friendly and professional environment. In fact we believe you can't have one without the other.

We feel confident enough to say that we continually achieve this goal; our trainees consistently mention the dedication and experience of our team, both pedagogic and administrative; they praise the support they receive and the open, relaxed nature of life in Oxford Tefl.

Atmosphere and Facilities
The College is proud of its reputation as a friendly and dynamic place to learn with enthusiastic and professional teachers and trainers, who along with our English speaking reception and administration staff form a dedicated team providing you with all the support you need on the course..

As well as Cert. TESOL and Trinity Diploma courses, Oxford Tefl, Barcelona runs General English courses throughout the year (there are typically some 200 students enrolled on average) and provides in-company language training to a range of clients in and around Barcelona (around 500 students in total). There is a lively social program in the school, which includes our monthly "intercambio " night and film club, providing opportunities for trainee teachers to meet up with their students and students from other classes, as well as their fellow teachers and tutors.

The college occupies one floor of a typical 100 year old Barcelona apartment block with high ceilings and a bright , spacious feel. The 400 square meters contain seven classrooms, a large study area and a social area with coffee and cold drinks machines. There is a "chill out" room with sofas for relaxing. The study area contains a photocopier and computers (with internet connection) for trainees' use. The study room is well stocked with EFL course books, resource material and magazines for creating your own materials. Overhead projectors, videos, DVDs and cassette players are available for your use.

The college is open from 9 am to 9.30 pm Monday to Friday and on Saturday from 9 am to 2pm.

Location of the school
The school is centrally located in the Eixample district of Barcelona, with the Passeig de Gracia a 5 minute walk away. The area, like most of Barcelona, is commercial and residential. You will find no shortage of shops, bars and restaurants. There is a metro stop right next to the school and numerous bus stops nearby.

OxfordTEFL in Cadiz

The school is equipped with computers (with internet access for trainees´ use), video/DVD and CD/cassette players, and is well stocked with EFL course books and materials to help with creating your own interesting and entertaining teaching materials.

With a dedicated team of helpful, experienced and dynamic staff you will be provided with all the help and support you need both during the course and after, in your search for employment whether that be in Andalucía, Beijing or Caracas. The school has its own Careers Officer that will be able to provide you with individual and personalised advice as well as extensive job search resources.

For those of you requiring accommodation during your course we aim to provide low-cost and comfortable accommodation close to the school and the city's excellent beaches.

Location of the School

The school is located in the heart of the historic centre of Cadiz, overlooking the oldest covered market in Spain. The atmosphere is lively, bustling and happy with people chatting and even occasional song as the market really is at the very centre of life in this most enchanting of cities.

OxfordTEFL in Prague

The school is fully equipped with computers, photocopier, video and reference library. If you have your own laptop, the centre offers a simple free hook-up to our network and to the internet.

There are 3 classrooms, a resource centre, a small kitchen area for making coffee, a reception area and an office. The building is set back from the street in a leafy courtyard with a peaceful atmosphere. In short, the perfect location and setting for your course.

The school is located in the heart of Prague's old town on the ground floor of a newly refurbished listed building which was once a convent! Konviktska is a small street situated 3 minutes walk from the old town square and about 5 from the Charles Bridge. The nearest Metro stations are Staromestska or Mustek and numerous trams run close by. Excellent bars, pubs and restaurants are very close at hand, as well as some of the most stunning streets and squares of Prague's old town. map
