Aim of the course

This 3 day face-to-face course is ideal for anyone looking to get the most out of online video and video-recording devices in ELT.

During the course, you will develop your awareness and understanding of the potential and versatility of online video in ELT. By taking apart a number of video clips, you will gain valuable insight into the huge number of learning and teaching opportunities that sites such as YouTube have to offer.  You will acquire invaluable skills, competences and ideas for lesson planning, creating your own video content, making use of video recorders in the classroom, manipulating video and managing it online. Finally, you will develop ideas and strategies for avoiding issues associated with online video, such as copyright and privacy matters.

Is the course for you?

Last year, YouTube turned 5 years old. During this short time, online video has been affecting society, business, entertainment, politics and education in diverse and unpredictable ways. Accompanying this new media is a need to reflect on the culture which arises from it, and the new literacies which it demands. This course will be invaluable for any teacher or teacher trainer who wishes to gain an in-depth understanding of online video, as well as the practical tools for using it in the classroom.
